This week’s project is is letters and alphabet fun! I have been wanting to do the letters for quite some time now! Brooks has really started to show an interest in an alphabet picture we have hanging in his room. When he waked up in the morning and from naps he points at it and we talk about it being the alphabet and then sing the ABCs, he smiles really big and gets so excited! So what better time than now to let him start playing with the letters and identifying them together!
There are so many ways these can be used! For Letter Identification, matching, spelling words like sight words, with a sensory bin, so many things!
I decided to do the tree and coconuts because as a child I LOVED the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. and thought this could be a fun way to read the book and have the letters and the tree as we read to play with and find the letters as we mention them when reading the book! Of course the letters can be used to identify as you sing the alphabet or read any book with the letters.
“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning.” ~Mr. Rogers
I really like to find fun ways to incorporate the two as often as I can.

These items were created using Easel Pro on the Inventables X-Carve with Birch Wood. The tree was painted using Old Fashioned Milk Paint and finished with Tung Oil and the letters we finished with Tung Oil.
