We included Brooks in how we were decorating his new Big Boy room. We had decided on things that go and staying with animals! The show Trash Truck had some influence here because he loves this show on Netflix and it involves a trash truck and animals (raccoon, bear, and mouse). He also has a LOVE for excavators, fire trucks, buses, and the movie Cars.
I wanted a cute blanket for his toddler bed and some valences for his windows. I found this on Etsy and it is PERFECT, such GREAT quality and was exactly what I was hoping to find! We went to Hobby Lobby to get some ideas and look for other items to decorate with. We found a bear, raccoon, and hedgehog pictures. I found the little boys sign and had to have it and Brooks found the Cars picture and said “I need that for my new room”, so we got it too!

Brooks also saw some wooden construction/emergency vehicles and wanted those. I decided I could make these for him. So I started working on designing and making those. I decided to do a trash truck, cement truck, bulldozer, firetruck, and a dump truck and to correspond the colors with the bedding/valances I had ordered.

We also wanted to have a spot for reading and book because Brooks really enjoys reading and it is important to us to make that a priority! We already had his nugget so we decided to use that for seating as it is GREAT and we all can sit on it together while we read! We initially thought about building a bench seat with storage for books/toys but decided once we put the nugget in there that we LOVED it there and we could do book storage another way!

We had this Ikea cart that I had used in Brooks’ nursery for nursing items so we repurposed it for book storage. Brooks asked for more of his books he had in his nursery to be in his room so we decided to add the book shelves to the wall above where we had his rocking chair and owl book caddy.
Brooks is so proud of and LOVING his new big boy bed! You can find these construction/emergency vehicle wall hangers on our Etsy Shop here.
