I have always enjoyed working out! We ran a 1/2 Marathon in December of 2018 and I found out I was pregnant at the end of January 2019! I tried to continue being active while pregnant, I was more successful with it at the beginning but it became so uncomfortable to continue running or doing any kind of higher impact exercise so I stuck with going for walks! Being pregnant and at my biggest through the hottest months and one of the hottest years we have had, I did a lot of indoor walking once it got hot!

I knew after having Brooks I wanted to get back to being more active fairly quickly once released to do so by my doctor! At 8 weeks postpartum I joined Fit4Mom in the Lake Norman area and I am so glad I did! It was a GREAT way to ease back into exercise on my own terms. With Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre, Brooks is able to go with me! I love being able to get a workout in and include him in the fun too! The instructors make sure the kids are kept entertained- we move around during class to keep them moving, have themed classes, sing songs, tickle toes, read books, and blow bubbles! It’s GREAT and I love showing him how important it is to make yourself a priority and take care of yourself!
Super hero themed class! Brooks was Batman & I was Robin 80’s Themed Body Back Class Valentine’s Themed Class
At 3 months postpartum I began a Body Back Transformation with Fit4Mom. This is an adult only class and was the first time I left Brooks! The first night was SO hard to leave even though I knew he was in great hands with my husband! I was a mess and shed quite a few tears on my way to class! I knew I needed this time away to invest in me and it’s important for me to take time for me too! It has gotten a little easier each time!

I am so thankful for Fit4Mom Lake Norman as I’ve met a lot of other moms and am able to work on and focus on me for an hour! Mentally I am in a much better place when I take this time! It makes me a better mom, wife, friend, an all around better person. I am happier and better able to fulfill these roles when I am happier and taking care of myself!
Brooks liked to nap while mom worked out! Baby wearing and working out!
I only wish I would have found and joined Fit4Mom sooner as I could have been doing this while pregnant too! The instructors are fantastic at offering modifications as needed due to pregnancy, newly postpartum, injury, etc.!

Whether you are a new mom or a mom of older children I encourage you to take time to invest in yourself! Go for a walk, do an online class (you can find online Stroller Workouts on the Fit4Mom website, YouTube), chase your little one(s) around, whatever is best for you! The key is to start, you will not regret it!
